The Church There is a place for you in The Church
at Horseshoe Bay...an interdenominational congregation organized here in 1982. The Church
currently has some 850 members who come from various parts of the Protestant tradition.
In 1993
the congregation moved into its present facilities, a resplendent 22,000 square-foot
complex overlooking Lake LBJ. The 4-acre complex includes a beautiful sanctuary with view
windows overlooking Horseshoe Bay, a fellowship hall that can accommodate nearly 300
people, a church parlor, an administration building that houses church offices, meeting
rooms and library, an open-air courtyard, 3-car porte cochere, and ample parking spaces.
All buildings are fully accessible to persons with disabilities.
| The congregation is ministered by
Rev. Peter K. Christy. Prior to becoming a chaplain, Rev.
Christy served as a minister of the Northeast Philadelphia Church of
Christ and as an instructor of religion at the Northeastern Christian
Junior College in Villanova, Pennsylvania. He holds graduate
degrees from Harding University, Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary,
and the California Family Study Center, and is currently working on
his PhD at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Rev.
Johnny P. White Jr., the Pastor and newest addtion to our staff, joined the Church in
September 2005. Rev. White holds a BS in Communications from the
Univ. of Southern Mississippi, a Masters in Divinity from Southwestern
Baptist Theological Seminary, an MA in Religious Education from
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and is currently a candidate
for Doctor of Ministry Sipritual Leadership from Beeson Divinity
School.
Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. All believers
in Jesus Christ are invited to receive the elements. Associate memberships are available
for those who would like to continue a relationship with a congregation in another city. |
