History
The Lake Area Health Center
opened in Horseshoe Bay on January 15, 1996. Checking in as the first
patients were Wayne and Eileen Hurd who had donated the land for the
facility. During its grand opening weekend, more than 700 people passed
through the facility. A state-of-the-art medical treatment and health
care center was a community vision that was realized through the efforts
of the Lake Area Health Center (LAHC) Foundation. The center became
affiliated with the Llano Memorial Healthcare System in January 2003.
